Cowichan Firewood FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is your firewood seasoned?
Yes. Our firewood is fully seasoned and ready to burn. It is suitable for wood stoves, outdoor fires, cabins, shops, garages, and home heating throughout Duncan and the Cowichan Valley.
What is rough-cut & mixed-size firewood?
Our rough-cut & mixed-size firewood includes seasoned logging end pieces, rough-cut sections, and mixed-size fir & hemlock firewood. Some pieces are larger or more irregular than premium split wood. It’s a budget-friendly firewood option for customers wanting affordable heat at good prices.
Every rough-cut load is different, so we can’t guarantee the exact variety of wood or the sizes. It’s mostly fir & hemlock, sometimes with some cedar and other types mixed in. All pieces are 18" or less, so depending on the size of your stove, some may need to be cut down further.
Do you sell kiln dried firewood?
Yes. Our Kiln Dried Firewood is a premium kiln dried fir & hemlock mix, and the most dry and ready to burn firewood we offer.
It’s $550 per cord, a flat price with no multi-cord discount, and it’s sold by the full cord only. Kiln dried firewood is available in the Cowichan Valley.

When is the best time to order firewood?
September, October and November are our busy months, and orders start to slow down around Christmas.
In busy times the waitlist can be up to 3 weeks or longer. Ordering in spring or summer is optimal, especially if you don’t want to wait.
Is your firewood good for indoor wood stoves?
Yes. Our seasoned premium firewood can be used in indoor wood stoves when burned properly. Many customers also use our rough-cut firewood ($450 / 2 Cords) for outdoor fires, shops, garages, and cabins.
Why is your 2 cords for $450 so inexpensive?
We keep our pricing affordable by offering rough-cut & mixed-size seasoned firewood instead of premium perfectly split wood. Our budget-friendly firewood includes logging end pieces, rough-cut sections, and mixed-size fir & hemlock that still burns well and provides dependable heat.
Some pieces are larger, more natural in shape, or less uniform than premium split cords, but many customers love it for wood stoves, outdoor fires, shops, garages, cabins, and supplemental home heating.
We believe firewood shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg, and we’d rather be honest about the product while offering real value and fair prices for local families throughout Duncan and the Cowichan Valley.
Every rough-cut load is different, so we can’t guarantee the exact variety of wood or the sizes. It’s mostly fir & hemlock, sometimes with some cedar and other types mixed in. All pieces are 18" or less, so depending on the size of your stove, some may need to be cut down further.
Is rough-cut firewood harder to stack?
Some rough-cut pieces are less uniform than premium split wood, so stacking may be a bit more rustic and natural-looking. Many customers still stack it successfully and appreciate the lower cost and solid heat value.
How long are the pieces?
Our premium split and kiln dried firewood is 15"–16" as standard, and never cut longer than 16".
We can custom cut premium split and kiln dried to a shorter length. Additional charges apply to cuts under 12".
Width can’t be custom cut. It’s set by the machine splitter.
Rough-cut is different: it isn’t custom cut, and all pieces are 18" or less, so depending on the size of your stove, some may need to be cut down further.
Is your firewood good for overnight burning?
Yes. Many customers use our seasoned fir & hemlock firewood for wood stoves and overnight heating depending on their stove setup and burning preferences.
Do you sell firewood year-round?
Availability can vary depending on season and supply, but we aim to provide firewood delivery throughout the year whenever possible.
How dry is your firewood?
Our firewood is seasoned and ready to burn. Dryness can vary slightly depending on the batch, wood type, and time of year, but we focus on providing practical firewood that burns well for home heating and outdoor fires.
How quickly can firewood be delivered?
Delivery times depend on season, weather, and current demand. Contact us directly for current delivery availability in your area. Our rough-cut sometimes can take up to a week for availability and delivery.
